Chasing The Light

Light.

That beautiful transient thing.

Artists have always chased it.

Poets and lovers have too.

Because light reveals an object.

It tells the truth of a thing!

In art and in life ... to 'see the light'... is to understand as if for the very first time [how darkness and light are connected in such an important way]

But the light once revealed cannot be [un]seen and artists, poets and lovers alike are, from that day forward, both blessed and condemned by it… to seek it wherever they go… in whomever they meet… and wherever they look.

It's a blessing of immense proportions… and a burden like no other.

For the brighter the light... the steeper the angle… the deeper the shadow will be.

Shadows may define us and give substance to our form… but it it is our light… our radiant extraordinary light… that reveals the shape of our heart.

Jean my friend, you are so right—

John F. Kennedy said it well—“To those whom much is given, much is expected.”

Having the strength of your convictions is not easy and takes courage but the rewards are great.

‘Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.’ ~Maori Proverb

Sharing our light gives tenfold back to us but dont do it for the return on your investment, do it for love with kindness.

‘Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.’ ~Michael Strassfeld

We are very priveleged to seek the light as artists and humans— thanks for reminding me ! X geo http://www.georgiamansur.com

Thanks Georgia :) I most certainly agree! The light is the reward in and of itself. To be able to see in a way that illuminates our own little world and the people in it is a beautiful blessing indeed. The shadows are there to give emphasis only [and perspective] and we’d certainly be lost without them :) x
